A typical e-bike rides nicely but does little else. A typical cargo e-bike hauls heavy loads but is bulky and awkward. Benno blends ride, looks, and cargo capability into one bike, so you never have to pick a side.

The Founder
Benno Baenziger has redrawn the bicycle twice.
Born and raised in Berlin, Benno Baenziger grew up around European city cycling and then found a second education in California design, skate, and snowboard culture.
In 1993 he co-founded Electra Bicycle Company in San Diego and designed the Townie, a bike built on Flat Foot Technology, which shifted frame geometry so riders could put their feet flat on the ground. It went on to become one of the best-selling bicycles in America.
He left Electra in 2010, three years after the company was sold, and founded Benno Bikes in 2015 to reinvent bike design once more. This time the focus was electrification and real utility rather than comfort alone.

Every Benno is designed around a Bosch mid-drive motor and battery system, chosen for performance and longevity rather than headline numbers. Power comes through the drivetrain, which is what keeps a loaded bike composed on hills and at low speed.
Frames are built to precise tolerances and components are specified to a high standard throughout, because a bike meant to replace car trips has to hold up like real two-wheeled transportation.

One Modular System
Reconfigure the bike, not your garage
